Yesterday when I ran the Windows update I got Service Pack 1 for download. I was waiting for this since long time and hence was very happy to get it finally. But when I selected it for download, I got an error code 800F0900 just before the download starts. I tried it next time and now I got the same as soon as the download started. I tried download SP1 several times but everytime use to get the same error and the download never pass more than 6%.
Any help regarding this ?
Even me with the same error code while downloading Vista SP1. I use to get this just before the progress bar reaches 50%.
If you get any working solution please share here as well. Thank you.
The only working method I found so far is to update/install the same from original Vista installation CD. I too was getting the error while installing through windows update, later I tried this way and got it done. The reason behind our error would be most probably any corrupted file that is unable to get repaired with the standard checks that MS does. So try out this and see if you get it done.
Yeah, you are correct Billie, that file is mmcico.dll. I was facing error code 800F0900 with vista SP1 installation. After put all my efforst finally I called up Microsoft Folk and helped me to fix it and understand the cause. The file mmcico.dll was corrupted and hence I was unable to install SP1. Finally he suggested me to perform an in place upgrade installation of Vista64. This is how Billie has mentioned above. Put installation Disk and select Upgrade option.
