Network Discovery: Custom?
I am having a home network running with Windows Xp and a Windows Ultimate PC. I want to connect both for file sharing but there seems to be some problem. Whenever i go to Network and Sharing Center to Turn On Network Discovery, it just wont allow me to do so and instead it shifts to ‘Custom.’ What is meant by that? What is ‘Custom’ and how can I Turn it On? Somebody please help. Thank you.
RE: Network Discovery: Custom?
Hi, am not getting which setting you missing actually, but here are the correct settings you need to do:
- Uninstall all third party firewalls.
- Allow file sharing in built-in windows firewall
- Network Discovery: ON
- Network set to Private
- File Sharing: ON
- Public Folder Sharing: ON
- Password Protected: OFF
Re: Network Discovery: Custom?
I was not able to get Network Discovery to go on until I made sure that Function Discovery Resource Publication to be set to automatic and started. Once I did that, I was able to make my network discoverable.
