Unprotecting a write-protected device
Is there anyone who can tell me how do I unprotect a write-protected removable device? I have a flash drive that has some files that I need to delete but its not letting me because it says its "write-protected". It is asking me to unprotect the first and then delete? I am not able to figure out how to unprotect it? Any ideas
Re: Unprotecting a write-protected device
I think that when a file is write protected, then you have to go into Windows Explorer to check properties of the file to turn that off.
Re: Unprotecting a write-protected device
I would recommend you by starting with the manufacturer of that flash drive to ask.
Re: Unprotecting a write-protected device
I think that some flash drives have a small slide switch, usually marked with open and closed lock icons, that behave like the write-protection switch on a floppy disk. I just noticed at four assorted flash drives, and 2 of them have that switch. Incase there is such a switch on your drive, then ensure its set to the open position.
