Microsoft Office Word has stopped working
I am using MS Word 2007 and I get the "Microsoft Office Word has stopped
working" when I try to open some (not all) documents.
The operating system is MS Windows Vista Business, version 6.0.6000 build
6000.
I tried editting my registry for Word, changing Data to OldData and Options
to OldOptions but this did not help. There is no Addins entry.
When I go to Word Options and attempt to select Add-Ins, I get the same
"Microsoft Office Word has stopped working" error.
This is not a trial version of Word. It came pre-loaded with Microsoft
Office 2007.
Re: Microsoft Office Word has stopped working
Did you purchase MS Office?
If not: open source (free) office suite. www.openoffice.org
Re: Microsoft Office Word has stopped working
Yes, I did purchase MS Office. I am using OpenOffice now as a workaround,
but I would like to get MS Word to work.
Re: Microsoft Office Word has stopped working
You might do better posting to microsoft.public.word.
Re: Microsoft Office Word has stopped working
OK, thanks. I'll give that a try.
Re: Microsoft Office Word has stopped working
Regarding "... It came pre-loaded with Microsoft
Office 2007...." - usually these are "trial" versions, however if you have
the Office CD insert and select "repair".
Re: Microsoft Office Word has stopped working
Question...have any of you recently installed an HP printer or all-in-one printer software? I noticed in Vista (right click Computer in Start Menu, then click Manage. Choose Reliability and Performance then click Reliability) that my troubles started when I installed an HP Photosmart c7250 with all the bells and whistles. I tried the regedit thing and that didn't work, or it did until I started the HP Solution Center, then when I started Word and tried to close it, I received the error message. My suggestion is to uninstall the HP product, repair Word from the disk and then reinstall HP. I hope this helps.
