connect windows vista to mac
When I was using Windows XP then I was not having any issues to connect to my mac by mapping network drive. But now upgrading to Vista, I am getting an error. I have checked the method described on the tech support sites for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\cURRENTcONTROLsET\cONTROL\Lsa and changed the LmCompatibilityLevel to 1 and then restarted my machine. But still I was not able to connect. Could anyone out there tell me what is the right method? Thanks.
Re: connect windows vista to mac
If you want to mount a Windows Share on your Mac, then click on your desktop aso that the Finder is the active application and then from the finder menu, go to "Go > Connect to Server". After that in the "SErver Address" enter "smb://192.168.1.3/vista-dell8300" (or what so ever your laptop mdel would be) replacing the ip address with the IP address of your computer, and mac with the name of Windows Share that you created earlier.
Re: connect windows vista to mac
Even I have got same problem with my Sony Vaio machine that came with Vista preinstalled and am also having the iMac for a home computer. I am not able to get these 2 machines to talk with each other. I have set the accounts to the same names and even tried to make changes to the registry but without any success. I am able to see Sony via the Mac but cannot see the other way around? Can anyone help? Thanks.
Re: connect windows vista to mac
Try to follow the below method and see if that works for you or not:
- First of all run the registry editor and open this key:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa
- After that if it doesn't already exist, create a DWORD value named LmCompatibilityLevel
- Now you have to set the value to 1
- After that restart the pc and voila, everything will be working fine.
