Vista causes loss of Internet, now says Local Only
I have got Windows Vista on my computer whih intermittently prevents the Internet from connecting. I have recently installed Vista on my computer and I have gone through many instances where the only network available is Local only and no Internet and it will lasts from a few hours to some days. When I was having XP then this thing never happened on the same pc with the same connections. I have got a linksys router and also a Motorola SURFboard cable modem. I have tried many things to solve this problem but to no avail. Can anyone please help me out with this issue? Thanks
Re: Vista causes loss of Internet, now says Local Only
Incase it is working in Windows XP but not in Vista then it might be a incompatibility problem. Did you try to disable the IPv6 on Vista? You can also check the below link to solve the issue that you are facing:

RE: Vista causes loss of Internet, now says Local Only
Still nothing, I am not having internet for 14-15 days now. So, after doing so much of troubleshooting I finally tried to update the router's firmware that I am using and then disabled the IPv6 completely but still there was no internet. Check the below copy of ipconfig/ all that I have posted:

Re: Vista causes loss of Internet, now says Local Only
I think that your problem is with the IP address 169.254.130.240. It seems to me that the DHCP is not able to assign IP to Vista operating system. You will need to ensure that the NIC or the router that you have is compatible with Windows Vista or not.
