Unable to upgrade DRM security component on new pc running Vista
I am using Windows Vista on Acer Travelmate 5720G laptop with windows media player 11. I am trying to upgrade my Security component since yesterday from this page http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/...en/indivit.asp but just before the upgrade come to End my browser gets freezed and I get an error message saying “security component could not be upgraded”. It is Internet Explorer 7.
I thought there might be some settings in my PC that is interfering with the same hence I restore my laptop to factory settings, even removed both the ATI Catalyst Control Centre (CCC) and the ATI mobility driver but still the same problem. If somebody of have you have any solution for this, please help me out.
RE: Unable to upgrade DRM security component on new pc running Vista
I don’t think you really required to reset the entire computer. The only suspect is Internet Explorer. So it could have been fixed by going to IE Tools > Internet Options >Security. Here uncheck “enable protected mode” and save the settings.
That’s it. Now you should not face any issue in upgrading your Security component with IE.

To me it seems like most probably your DRM is corrupted. Anyway, just check out this Microsoft Article for more help:
