How to make the ZIP files open with the default Compressed (Zipped) File
Hi, i am using Windows Vista. As my title says, i am facing some problem with ZIP file. Actually i associated few ZIP files with WinRAR recently and now i want to open the same using default Compressed (Zipped) File. As far as i know the default process for doing the same is by going to Open With -> Make this program the default, right? But the problem i am facing is I am not able to find the location of the default Compressed (Zipped) File.
Can anyone please tell me where is it located in Windows Vista Home Premium? Many thanks.
Re: How to make the ZIP files open with the default Compressed (Zipped) File
As far as i know The Compressed (Zipped) file are actually powered by Dll instead of .exe and they are not listed in the program files. To make them as default you will first need to download and apply the .zip file association fix.
Here is how you can do that. First download this .reg file, save it on desktop somewhere. Right-click the REG file and choose Merge. Note that you need to be an administrator to apply these fixes. Thats it.
Re: zipped folders with a zipper - I want them to show WinRAR icon
I have the same problem, but just backwards. LOL I have WinRAR and the WinRAR icon used to show on my zipped folders in Vista 32bit. Now, for some reason, the folder has a zipper on it. WinRAR is my default zipping program.
How do I get the WinRAR icon again instead of the folder with the zipper.
I need step by step instructions and not real techy.
Thanks so much,
