Install 3 of 3 loop hang vista crash
This install 3 of 3 shutdown loop is most frustrating. I had only
re-installed vista from installation disk last week after vista mail would
not open and no internet was available due to missing dll's and constant
hangs after an hour. Last week my new install was running great, now
microsoft automation has killed my machine. Luckily it is dual boot.
My question is Can i replace some files from windows.old over the new
windows install in explorer that would sort out the registry to boot up
successfully. I cannot be bothered with 2 days work setting it back up and
then for how long will it last.
Because I am dual boot I have no restore points - that advice about restore
from disk was too late for me as I had already booted into xp to access my
documents.
Thanks guys any help appreciated ....

Here is your link to update your IE7 dll's and just run this from the
microsoft site or save this file and open on desktop it is completly safe i
did it on another computer, because i did not want to reinstall IE7 browser
again and it fixed the issue, hope this helps. Link:

RE: Install 3 of 3 loop hang vista crash
Thanks wolf ... sounds like that would have fixed my last installation .....
but i had already re-installed last week after upgrading graphics card to
radeon x1550 512MB as i thought my hangs had something to do with card.
I was stuck on the install 3 of 3 loop days after install and going crazy
..... That was my real problem and i just wondered if anyone had my old
problem which obviously they did - I have learned to use these forums -
Brilliant - however i have just fixed that now after reading the post from
'nugat'.
Cheers nugat - I am back in and no doubt lots of other people will be too ...
SOLUTION delete pending.xml from windows/winsxs under vista
U have to boot with install disk though - repair computer and go to command
prompt - else u get access to denied to file (if u try move/delete from xp -
dual boot)
BIG PS - The reason lots of people do not have restore points is that
running dual boot deletes the vista restore points when u boot into xp ...
also why so many people be smart and cheeky about not having a backup or
restore points .... i have all my data files on other drives so my personal
data is safe .... i was still setting up my second install of vista and when
it was ready then i was gonna create a backup - unfortunately microsoft
jumped in there first ...
Anyway thanks to all the helpful posts on here - and thanks Ernest Dunhin
for the original post/solution - well done that man for putting the info on
here to help us guys ....
