I am having Vista Home Premium and trying to backup to a USB hard drive.
I can create a complete PC backup and can restore image of the entire computer. But am not able to "create backup copies of files and folders". I tried and got the error 0x80070057
I reformatted the external drive but still got the same errors though.
Sorry but I can't get into the backup wizard. When I try I get the same error message.Quote:

My dear, as you will see from my original post my problem is not being unable to backup - it's being unable to use automatic backup!

I would recommend you to try the Vista Repair because your auto backup is not working and now you can't get into the wizard which means there may be a corrupt file somewhere on the system.
