Connecting to wireless LAN
I have got a Dell Inspiron laptop with dual boot of Windows XP and Vista operating running on it. I am now trying to setup the wireless lan in the Vista partition, which is already setup in the XP partition and working properly. Now, although in Vista I can connect to the Internet and go to any place, but I am not able to connect to other computers on my lab. Vista is able to recognize the workgroup and then router on my main pc but it will not recognzie any other computers. Can anyone please help? Thanks.
RE: Connecting to wireless LAN
Some more information, vista is able to recognize and I can connect to my network. I dont have any active firewall and I also have the public file sharing turned off. I have already checked many articles about setting network to private but I dont know how to do that thing? Any help in this matter would be appreciated. Thanks.
Re: Connecting to wireless LAN
Are you able to ping any other computers? Can you try to post back with the results of the ipconfig/ all that might help?
RE: Connecting to wireless LAN
To share a folder in Windows Vista, do the following:
- Ensure that file sharing is enabled as described in the “Enabling File and Printer Sharing Options” section of this article.
- Click Start, and then click Computer.
- In the Computer window, navigate to the folder containing the folder that you want to share.
- Right-click the folder that you want to share, and then click Share. The File Sharing window is displayed.
