windos update error 80080005
I try using my windows update to see if there's any update avaiable to my
Windows Vista Business. I've got a Windows update error code 80080005. I try
looking this up in help and other sections. Can't find it for windows update.
Any help or suggestions to how to resolve this issue? The version of vista
comes with my new Sony notebook and the internet connect works fine. Any
suggestions will be great. Thanks for all your help in advance.

re: windows update error 8008005
I'm having the same issue. I believe my issue is related to another error
code I get from the dllhost.exe in the c:\Windows\system32 directory. It
puts out an error periodically saying:" The NTVDM CPU has encountered an
illegal instruction. CS:0011 IP:0215 OP:f0 1d 89 00 f0 Choose 'close' to
terminate the application. However, it takes maybe 8-10 clicks of the close
button because every time choose close in the error dialogue box, I get
another same message that pops up.
Not sure what this is... Msfot's own website doesn't have this error on Vista.
Re: windows update error 8008005
Hi guys, this is Peter... I try contacting my computer maker and you
know what kind of respond I've got from them?
"With regards to your concern, we have forwarded your case to our
technical department about the Windows Update Error and we have been
searching for solutions and are unable to provide a solution.
Unfortunately, Microsoft also cannot provide a solution. You may
have to wait for a Windows Vista patch from Microsoft. "
It is a crap answers that no one, not even Microsoft have any bloody
idea what's going on. So I donno what to do any more. I am just
disappointed in the way that Microsoft can't even get the basic right.
Anyway, if anyone got any solutions to this, I am happy to hear it!

For the last two months I have not been able to use windows update. It keeps

Re: Windows Update Error 80080005
Chances are that you're seeing the affects of a hijackware infection.
1. See if you can download/run the MSRT manually:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/ma...e/default.mspx
2. Run this online scan (in safe mode w/networking, if need be):
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/howsafe.htm
3. Run additional checks for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis
log to an appropriate forum.
Checking for/Help with Hijackware
When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2 is the preferred tool to use (in
conjuction with some other utilities). HijackThis will NOT fix anything on
its own, but it will help you to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware with assistance from an expert. **Post your log or another appropriate forum for review
by an expert in such matters, not here.**
If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA) computer repair shop.
