Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1 (KB929300)
According to the site this is supposed to be a 53MB download. YEt when I go
to download so I can have a personal copy @ time of disaster I don't have to
download EVERYTHING again, it shows me what is called a bootstrapper, which
after I download forces me to download the bigger file, without giving me the
option to have a personal copy.
How the heck do I get a personal copy here?
Thanks!

What site? Windows Update Catalog?
What happens if you choose to download one which is not for your OS?
Surely it wouldn't try to start installing it? ; )
In fact, I even see a button there labeled Add All which would imply to me
that you could download all 4 versions of it in one basket. In that case if
necessary you wouldn't even have to have a different OS to download your
version of the update to. ; )
FYI there is a separate newsgroup for WUC now. Cross-posting.
Good luck
