Quick Launch file location? My quick launch has lost it's way
I think I inadvertently dragged the quick launch folder to the desktop.
Now the quick launch does not work. and I have left it on the desktop
wishing I could drag into it's correct pathway so that it will work again.
Anybody know where it shoud go?
Into the user folder perhaps
Thanks
Dave

Thanks so much, getting closer. but did not work.
Pathway is Desktop>(my user name)> AppData>Roaming>Microsoft>Internet
Explorer.
Tried file both as Quick Launch and QuickLaunch
Still nothing on task bar
RE: Quick Launch file location? My quick launch has lost it's way
still nothing. I re-booted twice
I still have a quick Launch folder on my desk top.
My taskbar is unlocked.
I've tried "Show Quick Launch" from the properties dialog box
It's a read only.
Just can't get those icons on the right side next to the start menu on my
vita home premium desktop
Re: Quick Launch file location? My quick launch has lost it's way
If you do not want to go through the process of a System Restore (as it
might change recently changed settings), then read the information
below. You have direct access to the Quick Launch shortcuts to do what
you need to do, and thus is better to do things this way in my opinion.
All Dave had to do was open the 'Internet Explorer' folder from the
first path shown below and drag his 'Quick Launch' folder from his
Desktop back into (directly under) the 'Internet Explorer' folder within
that said path. Why Microsoft decided to put the 'Quick Launch' folder
within an 'Internet Explorer' folder is beyond me.
The location of the actual folder containing the shortcuts that show up
in the Quick Launch menu is:
C:\Users\(YOUR
USERNAME)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
If you are missing any shortcuts from the Quick Launch
menu, then check for, and copy, them from here:
C:\Users\Default\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Quick Launch
After copying, just paste (what you copied) within the 'Quick
Launch' folder at the end of the first path I listed above.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Note: For Windows XP, the location of the actual folder containing the
shortcuts that show up in the Quick Launch menu is:
C:\Documents and Settings\(YOUR USERNAME)\Application
Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want to add shortcut icons directly to the Quick Launch group on
the task bar, just drag the shortcut icon to the group of Quick Launch
icons there. A black vertical bar will appear between, or on the side
of, the icons as you move the mouse cursor over that group while still
dragging. The black bar indicates where the shortcut icon will be
placed after the mouse button is released. To reposition the task bar
Quick Launch icons, just drag them around.
If you have more Quick Launch icons than the task bar area is set to
hold, then the icons overflow into an Extended Quick launch menu. The
extended Quick Launch menu is what pops up after a click on the double
arrows (>>) that are by the first Quick Launch grouping on the task bar.
If you want the new icon within the Extended Quick Launch menu, then
first make sure that you initially drag the new icon to the right side
of the last (lower-right) icon within the the first Quick Launch
grouping. While still dragging, you should be able to see the black
vertical bar, or at least some of it, on the right side of that last
icon if the cursor is in the correct position before releasing the mouse
button. Since the new icon is being placed even -after- the last icon
in that group, it will then fall into the Extended Quick Launch menu
after the mouse button is released.
Click on the double right arrows (>>) on the right side of the first
quick launch group to open the Extended Quick Launch pop-up menu, then
just drag the icons around to change their order within the menu if
desired. You can also drag icons from the Extended Quick Launch menu to
the first Quick launch group on the task bar, but not vice-versa...I
don't think.
Re: Quick Launch file location? My quick launch has lost it's way
Oh yes, I forgot; before making your way to the 'Quick Launch' folder,
first make sure that you can see hidden folders in Windows Explorer or
else you will not be able to see the 'Application Data' or 'AppData'
folders.
