Network Printer offline server 2003 untill re install
Hello there.
I am currently swapping all the printers in the office to the new print
server we have. We have 6 in total and 5 are working without issues.
I am having an issue trying to get a network printer to stay online.
After i add it to my print server it will stay on status "ready" for about
30 mins to an hour where i can successfully print, however after that time
the printer changes to offline. I first thought it was the printer that was
the problem so i went and checked the physical connections and all seemed ok.
I then checked further by adding the printer connection to the old print
server, and the printer then reports as "ready" and has been for the past 2
days. However on the new print server the same printer reports as offline.
The only way i have been able to re-enable it is by deleting the printer on
the server and re adding it.
When the printer states it is offline i cant ping it at all. However after
deleting and re-creating the printer i am able to ping it for the time that
it is online.
I have checked to ensure that printer offline is not selected
any ideas on what the problem could be?

What is the make and model of the printer that is connected to your computer. Have you tried updating the printer driver to the latest version. If that doesnt work then try to do a System Restore. First click on Start and then in search box type system restore and press Enter. After that choose a different point and click next. Now click on Show more Restore Points box and then select a date prior to this problem and click Next and then finish.

Can you try to make sure that you have not pur a new DHCP server on your system and it is not giving out the wrong IP addresses? This is to be done before when you setup new DHCP server without the reservations that is required. Also take a look at the physical network, if someone might have disconnected the critical switch, cable or such, which is why you are getting the problem.
