Outlook 2003 Sharing option is greyed out

We are running a Windows SBS 2003 server since years and there are over 300 clients connected. The server is updated with all recent patches, mail configured about 3 years ago and everything was working fine so far. Couple of weeks ago I faced some corruption in exchange database but we managed to fix it properly. Still everything was working fine but since past 2 days, one of our client is facing problems.

He is not able to share his inbox or calendar anymore, neither he is able to access others share. Rest all clients are still able to share and excess each other’s inbox etc but except this one client’s system. We tried getting the cause of the problem but dint found anything. Neither there is any KB or Google results related to this problem.

Do anyone here have any idea what has went wrong suddenly and how can we fix the problem? Thank you.

There could be various reasons for the mentioned situation such as:

1. If working Offline/disconnected. Make sure he is connected to the internet and server.
2. If he is using a PST file, there will be such sharing problems.
3. It can also occur if he is in Cached mode.

See these are not the reasons in your case.

Thank you very much for the help Toby, that’s exactly was the problem. When we checked Outlook, it was set Offline. Once I connected it, all sharing came back to normal. Help appreciated.
