Suddenly can't send or receive email-could before
About six months ago when I was setting up my account with Windows mail, I faced lots of problem. After many helps and spending hours on internet finally somehow I managed to complete the configuration that was working fine so far. But don’t know suddenly what went wrong yesterday, I just not able to receive or send any emails from Windows Mail any more. I haven’t made any changes in the system neither added in software or hardware.
I just keep getting the following error every time I try using Windows mail:
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'incoming.verizon.net', Server: 'incoming.verizon.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E
Somebody please help.
Re: Suddenly can't send or receive email-could before
Though you dint changed your antivirus, hardware or software, can I know which antivirus are you using btw in your system? If it is Norton or McAfee, will suggest you to uninstall it immediately because no matter they were working fine so far, they are well know for creating problems with Windows Mail or Live Mail. Because they have the email scanning feature and sometime they recognize every mail as malicious and block them all.
RE: Suddenly can't send or receive email-could before
As I can see that your server is Verizon, just to make sure that the server is ping, open command prompt and type ‘ping incoming.verizon.net’ , press enter. See if you are getting the proper ping, than its OK but if you get 'request timed out' or 'ping could not find host', then something is blocking the mail server from you. Probably could be your security programs installed on PC.
Re: Suddenly can't send or receive email-could before
Just visit to the following Verizon POP3 configuration page and make sure that your settings are correct: http://netservices.verizon.net/porta...help/selection. I know it was working fine so far but they may have changed the settings and that could be creating the problem as well.
