Sharepoint - Internal Website/Intranet
We are running SBS 2007 server since long time in our office and we use RWW to log in Remotely with our workstations. Since past few days we are facing some problems and I strongly suspect that the default.aspx file in the companyweb is missing or has changed. Because whenever I try setting up intranet I get the following error message:
The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its
dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is
temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that
it is spelled correctly.
Requested Url: /default.aspx
As a troubleshooting I tried reinstalling clean sharepoint after removing it completely from the system but that dint worked. Any idea how can I fix it up? Thank you.
Re: Sharepoint - Internal Website/Intranet
Hope you know how to install SharePoint but still I think you might have made some mistake during the installation. Hence just try out again with the following steps:
1. Remove Intranet using sbs setup
2. Remove MSDE SharePoint from Add/Remove Program
3. Delete Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$SharePoint\ and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\Intranet
4. Delete Companyweb from IIS if it is still there.
5. Rerun SBS setup to put back Intranet.
Re: Sharepoint - Internal Website/Intranet
When I had the same problem, I managed to fix it by simply reinstalling sharepoint. As you did the same as well I guess it should have been fixed but as you said you still facing the problem, I’ll suggest you to check this KB describing How to remove and how to install the Windows Small Business Server 2003 SharePoint Services 2.0 companyweb Web site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829114. If after following that you still face the same issue than follow the instructions in the following article under ASP.NET 1.1 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/823379
check what ressource is currently missing
To know what ressource is really missing, right click the page and choose view source, it's maybe just a control template that's missing...
