Can Vista Remember Network Passwords
I have a Windows Vista Home Premium system running on my home Wireless network with few network drives. There is o prolem in the connectivity or access those network drives, but everytime I need to access the drives, I need to enter username and password. I want Vista to remember those login credentials, also check marked the box for remember password option but it does not do anything.
Can anyone please tell me what is wrong, why vista asks me again and again to enter pass? I would also like to know if I can make VPN connection re-starts with Vista instead of doing it manually every time. Thank you very much for helps in advance.
Re: Can Vista Remember Network Passwords
In order to prevent login every time you want to access the drive you must have the same username and passwords on all network drive computers. And as far as VPN is concerned you will need to use CMAK to startup the VPN connection. Rasdial may help you to start VPN with Vista automatically. To create logon batch file with rasdial, open Notepad. Add this line:
rasdial entryname [username [password]
For example, rasdial chicagotech blin msmvp
Re: Can Vista Remember Network Passwords
I had done this once in my Vista Home Edition, yours is Home Premium so I doubt if it will work but still you can give it a try. Start with going to Control Panel > user Accounts > Manage Your Network Passwords > Add. Here make sure that "Windows logon credential" option is disabled.
Re: Can Vista Remember Network Passwords
Just follow these steps:
- Map the networks driver of your desire -as usual- by right-clicking on ‘my computer’ etc.
- Create an “.bat” file with the following content:
- net use \\<ip-address> <password> /user:<username>
- For instance: net use \\192.168.1.11 mypassword /user:usern_name
- Place that ‘.bat’ file in the start-up directory of Windows, and that’s all !
