office 2003 on Vista 64-bit ! need help!

I am using Windows Vista 64bit on Dell laptop. Yesterday bought a new copy of Office 2003 to install on this system. Whenever I run the setup it gets failed with some error. I tried to find out the cause of the problem on some forums but got 50-50 answer. Many people say Office 2003 is not compatible with Vista 64 while many people say it is compatible.

So, here I need an answer from any experience people who have used or tried installing Office 2003 on Vista. Please tell me the truth if it works with 64bit or not.

First of all you should have posted the Error message you getting while installing the office 2003. That could have helped us better solving the problem. Anyways, I have faced some similar problem while installing Office 2003 on Vista 64bit. I was not able to install it successfully. Later I just ran Windows Office Update website and installed the available service packs and updates for Office. later I tried installing Office 2003 and it completed in the first attempt.
