windows media player will not let me rip a cd
This is Windows Media Center 2002 edition SP2 running with Windows media player 11. Whenever I try to burn a CD with MP3 tracks, it ends up with the following error message:
“Windows Media Player cannot rip one or more tracks from the CD.
Error ID number is C00D10D2”
Any idea what could be the problem and how can I fix it? Thank you.
Re: windows media player will not let me rip a cd
There could be many reasons for the same including your CD or CD drive itself. So to make sure CD drive is fine, are you able to play any other normal music CD on your system? If yes, then is the problem with only MP3 file burning or all other media files?
Re: windows media player will not let me rip a cd
Hey Hawkin, me too struggling with a similar problem. Hope you can help me out. Even I was get exactly the same error message while ripping any CD with Windows Media player. But as a workaround I went to Device Manager and turned off Digital audio box. After this when I tried, there was no error in ripping the CD.
But later when I tried playing the same CD, I can see the tracks playing (timer moving ahead) but there was no sound in any of the tracks. I tried burning with both WMA and MP3 format but the problem remained same.
Any help please?
Re: windows media player will not let me rip a cd
I had exactly the same problem. Very perplexing til I came here. This worked for me:
Windows Media Player Tools:Options:Devices
for the relevant CD Drive - select Properties menu
Select Digital in both boxes (one of mine was on analog)
I also ticked 'Use error correction' in both bobut dont know if this is required or not.
Hey presto, ripping facilities restored.

Thanks so much. the "error correction" tip worked liked a charm.
Y'all are great.
Re: windows media player will not let me rip a cd
I was backing up my catalogue of cd's (little over 600) so that I can make MP3 disc's, as it's just a little bit easier to fit that disc book in my car, and midway through my comp didn't like something I did and locked out all future ripping with that error message. I did what TGT suggested and I'm ripping without trouble again. It sure beats having to use Magic MP3 encoder and manually program all of the CD information. Thanks for your help!!
