Moving local user profile over to domain profile -- moveusers.exe?
I just want a simple tool that can take a workgroup local user account and settings and allow an admin to move or convert that account to be used in a new domain on the same computer. Can anyone tell me if this can be done? The users are on Windows XP and going to a domain profile locally through AD on an Windows 2003 Server R2. Thanks for any information.

Follow the below steps:
- First of all join the domain
- After that log in as the new domain user, and log out
- Now you have to log back in as an account with admin rights on the box and not user account.
- After that you need to go to control panel, system, advanced and in User Profiles, click the Settings button
- Now you can try to select the domain user's profile, click on Copy To, and browse to the new domain user's c:\documents and settings\username folder and then click OK.
- After that click the Change button in Permitted to use and select the domain\username account you just copied

You can also download the Windows User State Migration Tool (USMT) Version 3.0.1 from here - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl....aspx?id=10837. It migrates user files and settings during deployments of Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Vista. You can use USMT to perform unattended migrations and to migrate files and settings for computers with multiple users.
