lanmanserver service is Stopped.
I have a HP ProLiant ML110 G3 Server which is running SBS 2003 SP1 and Symantec antivirus as well. The issue that I am having is the Lanman service stops automatically after every 5-6 hours time and after that all related services also stops, server service, file distribution service, etc. I am getting the following error in the application log:
lanmanserver service is Stopped.
error : lanmanserver service is Stopped.
This service supports file, print, and named-pipe sharing over the network for this computer. If this service is stopped, these functions will be unavailable.
I have already replaced the memory for the server and now the problem comes at every 15-16 hours, but still is there any way to stop this completely? Thanks.
Re: lanmanserver service is Stopped.
Can you see any similar kind of messages in the event log as well? The only place where I have seen lanmanserver is not working correctly was when I accidentally removed the file and print sharing protocol from the network adapter.
RE: lanmanserver service is Stopped.
The problem is most likely to occur if some third-party server becomes the master browser. When a Windows-based server is the master browser, it does not let any host that is advertising its share to use a server comment that is larger than 48 bytes. When a third-party server message block (SMB) server becomes the master browser, it lets a host use a server comment that is larger than 48 bytes.
