Re: Windows media player stopped working
I'd bet you have random third party codecs on this system. What are they?
Do you perhaps have an old version of nevideo.ax on this system? Where did
it come from?

Re: Windows media player stopped working
That's pretty generic data. Did you use Check for Solutions?
What third party codecs did you install? This area of code is usually a
third party codec corrupting memory.
Re: Windows media player stopped working
A while ago, I got a COM SURROGATE STOPPED WORKING error. I was lucky
enough to bumpp into a forum post that was very helpful. Unfortunately I
no longer have the url. But I got rid of the COM SURROGATE error. And
last week I encountered the WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER STOPPED WORKING error.
And also WINAMP STOPPED WORKING.
So, the soluiton is to add the exe files to the Data Prevention....
1. Open Control Panel
2. Open System
3. Open Advanced System Settings in the left hand list
4. On the Advanced tab, select Settings button against the Performance
section
5. Open the Data Execution Prevention tab and there ADD the erroring
executable file. Be sure to look in the correct folders.
And repeat these steps whenever you get the ### STOPPED WORKING error.
I hope I managed to add the attachment with some screenshots for ease
of use.
Re: Windows media player stopped working
I tried to add wmplayer into the DEF but it still didn't work. the
problem I have is that I get wmplayer.exe APPCRASH error when I try to
open SOME AVI files and then I get a COM Surrogate error. But these AVI
files opens up fine when i am signed in as an administrator. Help
please!
