SOLUTION ERROR 80070002 - Microsoft NET. famework 1.1 service pack

Go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\Install and install manually
the archive. After finish run again the windows update to search for updates
and install automatic if any new.
Finish. You are updated now

This took care of the problem. But windows still wanted to install the
update I told it to install and when it was done it recognized the update.

Same for me too, did the trick on my xp home 086 system

Did the procedure as specified and it worked..... Now why can't microsoft
find out why this needs to be done manually .... obviously we are not the
only ones running into this.

This was sooo helpful. It was driving me nuts trying to fix this darn thing.
This windows vista is a trip i hope they fix all these little problems with
it in the future. Thank you so much!

I responded to someone else who mentioned this manual install business. I can
follow the path to C:/Windows/SoftwareDistribution/Download -- but then there
is no "Install." Can someone spell it out for me a little more, please? I've
never had any trouble with updates until this Microsoft.NET Framework1.1
Service Pack 1. I received it last night.

Smashing...thanks so much for the information. It worked just dandy on my
VISTA Home Premium edition. I can cease the ripping out of hair now lol.

Go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\Install and double click the
executable file that you want to manually install. Wait a few seconds and the
installation will begin. Just follow the prompts and you'll be good to go.

i too have the same issue (and i thought i was computer savvy! go figure). i
can get the download folder however there is no Install folder!! i have
unchecked to hide folders/files but still no install folder inside download
folder.... someone please guide me!
