Microsoft.Net Framework 1.1, SP1 Will Not Install
Hi there,
Had to re-install my XP. Ran the Windows Update and then Microsoft Update.
Custom install. Had 96 items to download and install, including MS.NET
Frameworks. Have enabled Automatic Updating so I keep being reminded to run
this update. It keeps failing, with this message:
Some updates could not be installed.
The following updates were not installed.
Microsoft.NET Framework 1.1, Service Pack 1.
First. Is this an essential item that has to be installed? If so, how is
this best accomplished?
Second. If it is not required then how do I tell the system to stop
reminding me about installing this update.
Help much appreciated. Everything else ran just fine!
Thanks so much!
Lynn
RE: Microsoft.Net Framework 1.1, SP1 Will Not Install
THis message happened to me also. Turns out I already had .net framework 2.0
and this is a more current version. System smart enough to know it didn't
need. I just went back into the install prompt and unchecked that update,
then said don't remind me again. (we don't automatically take updates...
view each one before we take).

I also cant install any .net components or versions.
I tried to follow the above instructions with no luck. I also tried
the instructions here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/320112
only to get the following error (see attachement) when using the installer. I even upgraded the xp home installation to xp pro with sp3!! Same result. Any one have a clue?
Re: Microsoft.Net Framework 1.1, SP1 Will Not Install
Try to update or upgrade your Windows XP service pack and then look out for the updated pack of .NET framework application to be installed. It will be helpful and you may then be able to function as needed. Do check out by upgrading your pack of Windows Xp. I hope this application will then be installed well without any issue.
