Office 2007 icons TOO large
The ribbon is taking too much of space because the icons are way too large. For some reason the icons in my Office 2007 on Windows Vista laptop are much larger than those same icons on my friends ribbon in his Windows Vista computer. I have set the DPI at 96 but I still cannot think of anything on how to make the icons smaller again, can anyone help me? Thanks.

It could be that your friends laptop display is set to a higher resolution than your monitor, so try to set the monitor's resolution to the maufacturer's recommended resolution that you own as well. Also you can minimize the ribbon anytime you want.
Re: Office 2007 icons TOO large
I was dealing with this issue on Windows XP and found that changing my theme fixed the issue.
I was on the default XP theme. Switched to the classic theme and the icons became smaller (in the start menu as well). I was then able to switch back to the XP theme and the icons stayed smaller.
Not sure what causes this, but that is how I fixed it.

This is the fix for all of you who have been as frustrated with this as me:-
