Intelide.sys corrupt system will not boot
When I try to start Windows Vista Ultimate, I get the message "Boot Critical
File c:\windows\system32\drivers\intelide.sys is corrupt" and a message to
boot from the install disk and do a repair.I did this and it could not fix
the problem! Now I have no clue as what to do? Any help is needed. Thanks
Ralph
Re: Intelide.sys corrupt system will not boot
Hi, Ralph.
Since you told us nothing about your computer, all we can do is take a shot
in the dark. :>(
Does this KB article help:
Intelide.sys Is Not Used on Computers with ICH4 or ICH5
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/322359/
It says it applies to WinXP; I have not idea if it also applies to Vista.
Google finds over 14,000 hits for "intelide +vista"; Windows Live Search
gets 255. You might want to take a look to see which ones might fit your
computer.
If you need to post back, be sure to tell us some basic facts about your
computer, such as make and model (of the motherboard/CPU if you built it
yourself), how many HDs and what interface (IDE, SATA, USB, SCSI) they are
using, etc. Is this a new Vista installation, or was it working and then
quit?
Re: Intelide.sys corrupt system will not boot
My system is DIY, Asus P5B Premium Vista Edition motherboard, Intel
Core 2 Duo 2.40GHz cpu, 2048MD DDR2 800MHz ram, Seagate Barracuda 7200.10
500GB Serial ATA-300 Hard Drive. The trouble I think started when I
used Windows Cleanup, and and selected alot of options.
Re: Intelide.sys corrupt system will not boot
Hi, Ralph.
That's a pretty hefty system you have there! ;<)
Have you run the System File Checker?
sfc /scannow
That should check all the operating system files against the "known good"
copy that Vista keeps in a cache on your hard drive and replace any missing
or damaged ones. You might have time for a cup of coffee, and you probably
should have your Vista DVD-ROM handy because SFC might need to see that.
That could certainly have done it! :>( Any chance you might remember WHICH
options? And WHICH "Windows Cleanup"? From Microsoft or a third party?
Re: Intelide.sys corrupt system will not boot
The big problem is Windows Fails to startup. I boot off the Vista install dvd
and select the "Repair Automtically" option and get the message after it
tries "Windows cannot Repair this computer automatically". It seems to me a
simple replace of the corruptfile intelide.sys should not be so hard?
It was the Vista windows CleanUP tool I used, can't recall all the options I
used. Using the Vista install disk and selecting under the "System Recovery"
options the dos prompt and typed sfc/scannow and got the message "Windows
Recovery Protection could not preform the requested operation".
under details report of problem it states
name StartupRepairV2
Problem signature
1 External Media
2 6.06.6000.16386.6.0.6000.16386
3 6

8 3
9 WrpRepair

OS Version 6.06000..2.0.0.256.1

And after startup failure this message
c:\windows\system32\drivers\intelide.sys is corrupt
error 0xc000000f
Re: Intelide.sys corrupt system will not boot
Hi, Ralph.
When I plug that phrase, "intelide.sys is corrupt", into Google, I get 687
hits. Some of them look promising.
Whoops! At least some of them have simply "slurped" THIS conversation from
this MS public news server! :>( I've NEVER posted to
http://forums.techarena.in, but there I am - and you, too! Ditto
http://www.tabletquestions.com.
I don't have time to comb through all those hits, but it appears that some
date back to at least 2005, and some involve WinXP or Win2K, before Vista
even existed. If you were running WinXP, I would have already suggested a
Repair Install (also known as an in-place upgrade). But I haven't had
occasion to try that with Vista. I've used System Restore (not System
Recovery) once, with excellent results.
About all I can think of is the old faithful: backup and then reformat that
volume and reinstall Vista. No fun, and not a quickie, but you've been
fighting this for over a week already, so...
Good luck, Ralph.
When you find the solution, please post back so that we can tell others.
Re: Intelide.sys corrupt system will not boot
Hi Ralph,
I have experienced exactly the same problem: disk clean-up (which got rid of
some unfeasibly large files) followed by the same corrupt intelide.sys
problems you describe. Repair from the DVD would not work. I have put a
(paid) service email into Microsoft and await a reply, which I will post.
Re: Intelide.sys corrupt system will not boot
I currently encountered this problem as well...still no fix??
