Kernel Mode Print Drivers - Unable to install
I have a b/w toshibacopier: "Toshiba e-studio 45" and a large business
class minolta printer/copier: "Minolta Fiery X3E CF5001"
Neither model has released a vista driver yet. Normally, I connect
workstations through a Windows 2000 server, but now when I try to do it, I
get this error:
"X (red) Windows can't install the TOSHIBA e-STUDIO45srs-PCL6 kernel-mode
print driver. To obtain a driver that is compatible with the version of
Windows you are running, contact the manufacturer."
and this one as well:
"X(red) Windows cannot connect to the printer. Operation could not be
completed (error 0x000003eb)"
Now, I don't have a setup program that I can use to run in "compatability
mode", just a set of DLL's that work with the print service.
I am running as Administrator
User Account Control is turned on:
Group Policy "Disallow Installation of printers using kernel-mode drivers"
is set to "disabled"
The strange thing is that I am able to get a non-networked (local) kernel
mode driver to work, although I believe that one had a setup program that I
could start in compatability mode.
Help! I've been working on this for 2 days...
Thanks
Re: Kernel Mode Print Drivers - Unable to install
Vista will block installation of Type 2 (kernel mode print drivers). Verify
if they are truly version 2 using printmanagement.msc to view the remote
server.
