can't send email error: 0x800C013E
It is Windows Vista running laptop with Windows Mail as default email client. It was working fine without any error so far but suddenly don’t know what went wrong, now when I click on Send, it gives me an error saying “Receive this error message: An unknown error has occurred. Protocol: SMTP, Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800C013E. What's odd is that it shows Port: 0. Outgoing mail should be Port: 25.”
Many people said it can be due to the Antivirus, hence I disabled email scanning in McAfee and disabled Firewall as well. That dint worked. Later I also did a system restore to a restore point made 3 weeks ago but that too wasn’t able to fix the problem.

Just go to Tools, click Accounts, click your email account. Now under Advanced or Servers Tab, check what is your Port Number. Cross check it again with the Port numbers provider on your email provides website for pop3 settings. Sometimes port setting get changed somehow and suddenly you start getting such errors.
If it is correct and you still getting the problem then better delete that particular account from Windows Mail and recreate it again. It should help.
Re: can't send email error: 0x800C013E
To me it seems the port problem. As mentioned your error “Port: 0”, this is actually a dead give-away of damage from an invasive antivirus program. Though you have disabled email scanning in your Antivirus that is just not enough. You have to completely remove it from your system.
