Windows Vista Constantly Use Hard disk
I am bit worried about my Hard disk. It is a laptop running with windows Vista Business. Whenever I download any file from internet, I noticed that the LED light remains on constantly on my cabinet and hard disk drive is almost constantly busy. I tried checking Resource Monitor and found this:
Quote:
SVCHOST.EXE(localsystemnetworkrestricted)
PID=1112
File=c:\downloads"the files name i am downloading"
Read=200,000,000(B/min)=200MB/min
Write=3,000,000(B/min)=3MB/min
I/O Priority= Background
Can you guys suggest what could be the problem with my HDD or system?
RE: Windows Vista Constantly Use Hard disk
I have spent enough time finding the cause for this and finally came to know that it is SuperFetch that keeps the HDD busy. But am still seeking why it use to cache the download directory because am not going to run those programs again. There should be someway out to stop this superfetch and free up the hard disk drive.

Sounds great that you finally figured it out Sulolab. Thanks for sharing but can you please tell me how can we turn this off permanently? I tried finding it out but dint found anywhere in the control panel ?
Also are you sure it will be safe to turn off this feature ?
