D-Link DIR-655, Intel WiFi Link 4965a/g/n, Vista and 802.11n
I am having a nice small network at my home. It has Windows XP laptop on it. There another desktop which also runs on Windows XP. I had added a Windows Vista laptop on the network. I had verified that the laptop comes with a compatible wifi standard with the network. I had configured WPA2-P password protection on the network and it is working. But I am not getting a prescribed speed. The wifi gaming is working extremely slow. Even on nice 100mbps lan network I am getting a slow game and it lags a lot. I was expecting to get a good speed but it is not working.

Now there is set of different modes in the router that you can manage to get better speed. Something the mode limits the connectivity option due to which you are not able to get speed that you are expecting. I had seen some router dedicatedly designed for multimedia performance. It is necessary that you must choose a router that can offer specialized mode for gaming. You can also run a firmware upgrade and test out whether the performance is improved or not.
