Download and install the driver for Sony Ericsson W850 USB Modem

I am not able to use my SonyEricsson W850 mobile phone on Windows Vista. I tried to install that but somehow it is not detected. On XP when I connect the phone it install the drivers on its own. It is detected automatically. But somehow in Vista this fails to work. Atleast I was able to get the removable media option to transfer my data. I am using the disc that I received with phone. It has its pc suite. Vista is not able to find any drivers through that. I want to install Sony Ericsson W850 USB Modem which I use to share internet on my laptop. I had performed number of fresh updates and even tried to locate new drivers. But there is nothing that worked.

From where you are downloading this drivers. I will recommend you to check on Sony Ericsion's official website. Because there you can find Vista compatible drivers for that modem. If it is not available then you cannot use it on Vista. You have to stick with XP. You can try to run the setup through compatibility mode settings. Just right click and choose Properties > Compatibility mode and done.
