Troubles with Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool
I have a desktop with GIGABYTE GA-K8NXp-SLI motherboard and 2 x1Go Corsair XMS Platium series RAM running with Windows XP OS. This system was working very good since past 3 to 4 years but suddenly don’t know what went wrong I started getting Blue Screens since a week with the following error message:
“STOP: 0x0000009C ( 0x00000004, 0x8086F1F0, 0xB2000000, 0x00070F0F).”
So I thought to start troubleshooting with RAM itself.
First I start the test with MEMTEST86 that showed up everything OK but as the problem is still there I also started testing with ‘Windows Memory Diagnostic’ but it gets freeze during LRAND phase always at the same @: 09D978. It remained there for an hour. So I canceled it, swapped RAM stick’s slots, also tried with only 1 stick and started again but still WMD gets hanged at the same place.
Somebody please help.
Re: Troubles with Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool
The actual problem is Blue Screen, right? Then why are you stressing so much on the RAMs instead of BSOD? First checkout this KB Article describing Stop Error: 0x0000009C (0x00000004, 0x00000000, 0xb2000000, 0x00020151: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/329284
Re: Troubles with Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool
Thank you very much for the suggestion and URL Wooody. That’s exactly what I was thinking too. It could be either CPU or Bus and they have also mentioned the same. Anyways, I’ll look after them and if received any further issue, will come back here. Thanks again.
Re: Troubles with Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool
Hello Croyer, I think you should ignore Windows Memory Diagnostic instead of ignoring MEMTEST86. Because even I faced the same problem with WMD as many times as I used it. It never completed the test atleast once for me. On the other hand, if MEMTEST86 is saying everything is ok, that means there is no problem with your RAM.
