Windows Modules Installer stopped working and was closed
Hello I am stock in a loop..very time Windows Update tries to install an
update (any update) it now crashes after about 1 minute with the message in
the title. I have tried running updates manually, indvidually, the systems
forces an update on close or hibernate then hangs which is really irritating
:-(...running Vista Home Premium (OEM build) on a HP Pavilion t3729.uk .
Last sucessful update was KB936825.......any help much appreciated
............
Plus if anyone knows how to get Vista to stay asleep for more than a couple
of mins without auto waking up for no apparent reason that would earn a bonus
prize !!

are crazy enough is to re-format the drive then re-install Vista then update
before installing all yr software..
I wont try this if you have d/l's progs which you cannot ascertain again
afterwards.
Only other option is to try this:

Right click on the command from the list, and select the option "Run As

Type the following commands mentioned below.
c. Type NET STOP WUAUSERV and press Enter. (Leave this window open for later
use).
Open My Computer.
d. Find the folder c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
e. Delete all the components from the folder (SoftwareDistribution).
f. Return to the black Window that opened in step c type NET START WUAUSERV
