Windows Explorer Not Responding
It is windows Vista Home Premium. Whenever I start this system it boots fine upto the logon screen, after I enter my password as soon as it reaches the desktop, I get a popup window saying “Windows Explorer is not working correctly’. It remains there for few seconds, disappears and windows explorer gets restarted but again after few seconds I get the same popup and it keeps on repeating.
Somehow I managed to open Task Manager, kill explorer.exe and ran a new explorer.exe by creating the new one. This is how I use this PC. Is there any permanent solution for the same ? Any help will be appreciated.
check timedate.cpl to see if it is the new one
I have a very good experience of this. Even my windows explorer use to crash or become unresponsive constant just after loggin in to system. Did many searches and finally found one that fixed the same. Sharing the same, hope you will be able to fix yours as well:
- Restart the computer and as soon as you get to the desktop, quickly right click the taskbar and select properties.
- Go to the Notification Area and uncheck Clock.
- Now log off again and login again to effect the changes.
- Now go to system32 properties and rename the timedate.cpl in to new name “timedate-cpl.bad”.
That’s it. Now restart the computer again and see if the problem is gone. This worked for me.
