default to DETAILS view instead of LIST in FILE > OPEN applet
If I am trying to open or save a file then I always see the default view is set to List. I am able to change it by selecting the view menu and I can also chanfe it to Thumbnails, tiles, icon, list and details, etc. What I want is to set a system wide preference to always have the default view to be Details. Can anyone tell me how to do this? Thanks.
RE: default to DETAILS view instead of LIST in FILE > OPEN applet
I think tha the last view options should be used to remain as the default view. Like for instance in Microsoft Word, you can try to make a sample document > Save the document > in the save as dialogue box, change the view to details > click the save button. The next time you save the view should remain in the Details view. That is true with the opening files. It could be possible that there might be another user on your computer that preferrs the list view.

Follow the below steps to solve this issue:
- First of all you have to close all Explorer windows.
- After that try to open My Computer and set the View to Details.
- Now you need to click Tools-Folder Options-View and click "Apply to all folders" and then click OK > OK

You can download a tool called FileOpenPatcher from ElmüSoft that enlarges the Windows Open File dialog (in Comdlg32.dll). FileOpenPatcher is the successor of the famous MultiEnhancer, just search for it on the net and download the same.
