Defender, Application failed to initialize: 0x80070006.

Recently upgraded XP SP2 to Vista Business (Upgrade). I originally had
Defender installed with XP.

When trying to run Defender, I get the following message;
Application failed to initialize: 0x80070006. The handle is invalid.

I have done several searches but cant find anything against this code.

I saw a thread which suggested to rename the SoftwareDistribution folder,
which I did to no avail.

Any suggestions/ideas?

Thanks Engel, appreciate the response.

Looks like it is a reinstall for me (In my wisdom I turned off System
Restore and I dont remember why, lol)
