Active desktop changed after Microsoft security updates
I have the latest security updates from May month. After the restart I am just having the white desktop with a button to restore active desktop. So, after pressing for active desktop recovery I get the below:
Internet Explorer script error
An error occurred in script on this page
Line 67
Error object doesn't support this action
Code 0
URL
File:///c:/Documents%20and%20setting/owner/application%20data/Microsoft/Internet %20Explorere/desktop.htt
Want to continue running scripts on this page?
After pressing Yes nothing happens. So I restored the system. Can you tell me how to fix this issue? Thanks
RE: Active desktop changed after Microsoft security updates
I didnt face any issue of active desktop with that update. You might have some instrcution in your desktop.htt file, on line 67, that does something your security settings do not allow. Can you open Internet Explorer and go to tools > options > Security tab > "Custom Level" button > <activeX settings.> You will have to reset the webpage to none, and then resync the page you want on the desk.
RE: Active desktop changed after Microsoft security updates
I didnt understand when you told me to reset the webpage to none? The security settings were to disable scriplets, unused active x controls and almost all others were disabled. Does Active Desktop relate to Active X controls? Thanks
RE: Active desktop changed after Microsoft security updates
You can try to set the active desktop page with the Control Panel or Display app. Go to desktop tab > "Customize Desktop" button > Web Tab and then turn it off and on.
Re: Active desktop changed after Microsoft security updates
I just followed the following and it did work:
Click on Start
Settings
Control panel
Appearance and Themes
Display
Desktop
Customize Desktop
Web
uncheck and then check back the following file:
file:///C:/DOCUME~1.....mage002.jpg
OK
OK
Close the Appearance and Theme window
minimize all the running applications to see your Desktop - it should be back to normal view
Good luck
Re: Active desktop changed after Microsoft security updates
You are the BEST, Ahmed. I have been searching ALL DAY for a response and a fix to this Active Desktop Problem with the Error in the Script Message and YOU had the correct answer, out of all the forums I visited.
Thank you!
I also was not able to restore my desktop. I wonder if this has fixed that, too! It doesn't matter, now!
But--in case it happens again--why WOULD a system restore on XP not go through, no matter how far back I go! And COULD the problem have been related?
Thank you and GOD BLESS YOU!
