Vista Windows Mail Spell Checker
Am using Windows Mail as email client since a long time on this Vista laptop. It was working fine so far but due to some unknown reason suddenly my spell check stopped working. I tried to get some help from web and found page saying something to check with edb.chk file in the Windows Mail folder. Well I did the same and got "Recovered File Fragments" under file type. So the file is corrupted now right?
Do you guys have any idea how it got corrupted and how can I fix the problem? Thanks in advance.
Re: Vista Windows Mail Spell Checker
Actually the file is not corrupt and the error you see under file type is just a bug with Windows mail. As far a syour problem is concerned, simply launch Windows Mail, go to Tools > Options > Spell. Here toggle to some another language, click Apply and change it back to English again, Click Apply > OK.
Now restart the mail and see if spell check works properly.

I am also facing the same problem with my WM on Vista. In my case it always says “spell-check was halted do you want to continue”. Also when I create a new mail and try to check Spellings, it says “An error occurred while spelling was checked”
Somebody please help.
Re: Vista Windows Mail Spell Checker
There are millions of users facing spell check problems with Windows Mail. Don’t know what Microsoft is doing about this. Anyways, the best thing I can suggest you is quit Windows Mail and download Windows Live Mail from here http://get.live.com/betas/maildesktop_betas. Am using this and got rid permanently of all those sick problems.
