SP1 error Integrity Update.inf-Make Sure Cryptographic service run

I am getting "Service Pack 1 Setup Error: Setup could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the Cryptographic service is running on this computer." when i try to install W2003 SP1 for installing SBS 2003 SP1. I am trying to install SBS 2003 SP1 for the first time and i don't have much idea about it. I am not sure if i am missing anything. So just let me know where i might be going wrong. Hope someone over here might be aware of this error. I need to fix it soon as possible, so a quick help regrading this will be highly appreciated.

Ill suggest you to try downloading the Service Package again and start the installation, also follow below things while installing it

• Close all unnecessary applications running in the background
• Close all unknown services running in the background
• Disable your antivirus program and other security programs

If these things doesn't make any difference in your case and you get the same error then let me know how many nics you have, what is its dns, whether your clients are having static IP or not. Just let me know about these things so that i can have better idea of the issue you are going through.

I have tried downloading and installing the Service Package again but no luck i keep getting the same error. I had fulfilled all three conditions before installing the Service Pack but it seems as if there something else that is causing the error to come up.
I have 2 NICs and their DNS is DNS is 10.0.0.1, they are attached to router/SDSL modem. My client PC's have static IP. Let me know if you need any further information to help me out.

Try this:

• Click Start > Run > type "services.msc." without quotes and click on OK.
• Right-click "Automatic Updates service." and click on Stop.
• Once the service gets stopped, delete contents of the DataStore folder
• Now click on start again > Run > type "%windir%\SoftwareDistribution." without quotes and click on OK.
• Once the service gets stopped, delete contents of the DataStore folder and close the window.
• You have to start Automatic Updates service now, so for that Click Start > Run > type "services.msc." without quotes and click on OK.
• Right-click on"Automatic Updates service.' and click on Start.

Just give it a try and let me know if that helps.

I am still having a "no joy" situation in trying to install SP1 on SBS 2003 due to the Integrity error. I've tried the fix by David, stopping and restarting the Crypto service but it still will not allow the installer to run. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You'll need Windows 2003 SP2 and SBS 2003 SP1. Check below:

In the procedure, you can substitute Windows 2003 SP2 for SP1 and Exchange 2003 SP2 for SP1. After you're finished, install, update and run a scan with the SBS 2003 BPA to see if it can find any problems:

You can even run the SBS 2003 BPA now to get a baseline on your system before the upgrade. Make sure that your server's BIOS is updated for Windows 2003 SP1 and/or SP2.
