DVD (ISO image) playback on Extender (Xbox 360)
I have almost 500+ DVDs with me and for the past couple of years I have been ripping the DVDs to ISO images on my network file servers. Other times when space got tight I like to burn a few to DVD+R. Anyways, my question is that will it be possible to do by writing an MCE add-in that will get the Mpeg-2 video and digital audip streams out of a DVD Vob file and then stream them to the XBOX 360 for playback? Thanks for any information.
Re: DVD (ISO image) playback on Extender (Xbox 360)
The problem is that Windows Media Center Extender architecture is designed for streaming media only and it is not interactive. Also to requiring an entire rewrite of the way it works, the DRM model used by the Extenders is designed only for streaming content, that means that it would need to be rewritten too. You should know that one will not be able to play stored HD DVDs either, even though they may allow for Mandatory Managed copies.
