Error in Windows Mail when trying to send and receive
I have been using Windows XP and Outlook Express 6 since long time. Now I upgraded and using Windows Vista and have configured Windows Mail with few POP3 and IMAP settings. Every time I try sending any email I get the following Errors:
An unknown error has occurred. Protocol: SMTP, Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800C0148
An unknown error has occurred. Account: 'Comcast Email', Server: 'mail.comcast.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800C0148
Any help please?
RE: Error in Windows Mail when trying to send and receive
Am sure that you are using McAfee or Norton because I have been facing exactly the same problem and fixed it easily by just removing it from my system.
So, if you have anyone of these security suites, just uninstall them. If you want you can go for AVG.
Re: Error in Windows Mail when trying to send and receive
Your error says “Port: 0”. I have never seen any pop3 settings to be with port 0. That is the problem I guess. Just go to Tools, account, select your account click properties and got to Server Tabs. Just check if the port is set 0. If yes, change it to 25 and save settings. Also if you are using any antivirus that has email scanning feature than simply turn off them or better disable your antivirus.
