MSVCR80.DLL missing...can't start Microsoft Outlook 2007
I bought a new Vista notebook computer. I loaded Microsoft Outlook 2007,
which ran twice. I installed a DSL line, upgraded software, and downloaded
Microsoft Updates. Then Outlook wouldn't start, and I keep getting a message
that MSVCR80.DLL is missing...reinstalling may alleviate problem. Well, it
doesn't! So what do I do? Other threads recommend downloading MSVCR80.DLL
and placing it in C:\WindowSystem32. Where do I download this file from?
Will it really work? Thanks!

Using Norton (Symantec) Product ???????
This error is generated by Norton. To correct this error uninstall Norton as per their uninstall tool. Then use a free AV like Avast,AVG,Nod32 which are much better and not so intrusive.

Re: MSVCR80.DLL missing...can't start Microsoft Outlook 2007
i uninstall Norton completly and i still have the error RTFHTML.dll not found
in path and then MSVCR80.dll not found. i read some people had that problem
with beta versions . I have a final version office enterprice 2007 , vista
home premium . in my search on web for possible solutions looks like acer
notebook are the common hardware but i still not have a solution. I install
outlook 2003 and also is given me errors now.
Re: MSVCR80.DLL missing...can't start Microsoft Outlook 2007
You did not uninstall Norton completely and correctly. Did you use their uninstall info from Symantec site and not the uninstall that is with the program??????

Re: MSVCR80.DLL missing...can't start Microsoft Outlook 2007
Thanks Peter
it takes many steps an takes long but ithink i didit . yes with the
uninstall in symantec site. I check in installed programs on control panel -
remove software screen and thers no symantec in the list .
RE: MSVCR80.DLL missing...can't start Microsoft Outlook 2007
I will try removing Norton Security Suite as you recommended. Which of the
free AV software is the best? Avast, AVG, Nod32 or another? I have also
not solved the problem concerning Microsoft SQL Server 2007 on Vista. I
downloaded the correct update, but it won't work with Microsoft Outlook 2007
Business Contact Manager.
Re: MSVCR80.DLL missing...can't start Microsoft Outlook 2007
You are very wrong. Check the Add-In in Outlook as Ken suggests and find the culprit. It is a Norton (Symantec) Add In like a anti spam,Anti Virus, or similar. Read Ken's posting a bit more carefully.
Not so sure about this...
I read the Norton / Add-ins are the culprits responses and tried them. I have uninstalled them using the Symantec removal utils, not from the add/remove programs and I am still getting this error.
I have the manifest files, but they are not in the same directory as the Outlook.exe and yes I have view hidden files/folders set to viewable.
Any other suggestions?
Re: MSVCR80.DLL missing...can't start Microsoft Outlook 2007
if you have a registry cleaner program make sure it doesn't delete this
info, because it happen that what registry cleaner sees as a error are
actually being used, this happen to me before.
Re: MSVCR80.DLL missing...can't start Microsoft Outlook 2007
Try uninstalling Office again. Reboot.
Use the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility;
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Reinstall Office.
What anti-virus are you using? Try disabling it before you install.
Might even try disabling UAC protection before the install.
Need help with the registry editor solution
Hi...I am a bit of a beginner with the registry editor...I would like to try this solution as I am having the same problem with the missing msvcr80.dll, but am not sure what steps to take. I know how to get into the editor and how to navigate but am not sure where to look for this file and how to edit it. Can someone give me like an idiots step by step on this? Thanks!
