Windows installer has stopped working message
I am using Vista Home Premium. I installed this about two months ago and it was working fine until a week ago but since then there is a pop up dialogue box keep poping up whenever i open My Computer or any folder. It comes with an error message saying:
"Windows installer has stopped working.... Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"
Note, only the error appears but it doesn't creates any problem with my Windows Explorer. I tried performing system restore several times but it doesn't seems to be working. I even tried searching for help on web regarding this but dint found anything working. Do you guys have any idea what could be causing the problem and how can i fix it?
Re: Windows installer has stopped working message
Make sure the "Windows modules installer" service is not disabled. Log on as an Administrator -
- Start button || Control Panel ||System and Maintenance ||Administrative Tools
- Double-click Services
- (Provide the Administrator password or confirmation if prompted to do so.)
- Right-click the "Windows Modules Installer" service, and select Properties.
- Select General tab - make sure that Startup type is Manual.
