Services crash hourly: IIS Admin, Exchange Routing Engine, SMTP,..
We are running SBS 2003 Standard SP1 with Exchange SP2 with Symantec Mail Security 10.1.4.4000 with Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange 5.0.4.363 at out office. Since couple of days something went wrong and the following services getting terminated unexpectedly every hour:
- IIS Admin Service
- Microsoft Exchange IMAP4
- FTP Publishing Service
- Microsoft Exchange POP3
- Microsoft Exchange Routing Engine
- Simple Mail Transfer Protocol
When we restart the server, all these services starts immediately but after a minute I see two warnings saying ExchangeApplicationPool and DefaultAppPool exceeded time limits during shut down. Any idea whats going on in background? Any suggestions?
RE: Services crash hourly: IIS Admin, Exchange Routing Engine, SMTP,..
There are few Hotfixes already released by Microsoft to fix the problem. I think you need to try out the same:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=839418
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=914394
Another reason behind this error could be Code Red worm which infects the server. The worm is well known for infecting IISAdmin service and other services that depend on the IISAdmin service to stop. You should use Code Red II removal tool which can be found here http://www.microsoft.com/technet/Sec...ls/redfix.mspx
