Using a Motorola PC850 with Windows Vista
As I mention in the title, I am using a Motorola PC850 dongle with Windows
Vista. I plug the dongle in and Windows immediately downloads the drivers and
installs them. The trouble is, when I go to configure the dongle's
attributes, there is no Bluetooth icon in the control panel. I have read
numerous pages and they all tell me to go to control panel and set everything
up through the Bluetooth icon. How do I get the Bluetooth icon back in the
control panel? Do I have a defective copy of Vista? Is there somewhere where
I can download this?
RE: Using a Motorola PC850 with Windows Vista
I have the exact same thing. I think the bluetooth stack in Vista does not
recognize or support this adapter even thought the driver is available. You
might want to try broadcomm bluetooth software which is the PC850 chipset,
however, it's not officially supported by broadcomm.
Re: Using a Motorola PC850 with Windows Vista
I have been chasing this issue for a while now and now have a fully
functioning Motorola PC850 dongle as well as my Motorola HT820 stereo
headset in Windows Vista. There is an updated driver for the Widcomm
stack, and although the PC850 is not supported by either Motorola or
Widcomm it works and can be downloaded here:
'MSI -- MICRO-STAR INT'L CO., LTD.'
The file name is Vista32(64)_BTW6.0.1.3400.zip. Hope this helps you
guys out.

Re: Using a Motorola PC850 with Windows Vista
@Prometheus: First of all, Great work finding this program update for
Motorola PC850!
I am running Vista Ultimate.
The downloading and installation of the MSI
Vista32(64)_BTW6.0.1.3400.zip. works great.
After the installation, under my Bluetooth-units, I am able to detect
my Nokia BH-903 (high definition stereo headset), and it displays both
the Bluetooth Hands-Free Audio and the Bluetooth Stereo Audio.
- I am able to connect to the Bluetooth Hands-Free Audio.
*- Unfortunately, I am not able to connect to the Bluetooth Stereo
Audio (it automatically disconnect).*
By installing the PC850 Vista drivers, it appears that the computer has
to go to internet to search for the proper driver. It then reports a
conflict with the following devices:
*A. Driversoftware found, but problem by installation*
*- Bluetooth-sound with high quality*
The name is already used as a service name or service display name.
*B. Driversoftware found, but problem by installation*
*- Bluetooth-sound*
The name is already used as a service name or service display name.
I don't know if this is of any importance, but I can add that I already
have the following devices in my Sound section under Control Panel:
1. Speakers - High Definition Audio-unit (Microsoft Driver, with
backpanel connection)
2. Headphones - High Definition Audio-unit (Microsoft Driver, with
frontpanel connection)
3. Digital outdata unit (SPDIF) - (Microsoft Driver, with backpanel
optical plug connection
4. Speakers - USB Audio CODEC - Generic USB-sound - no plug
information
I have also tried to uninstall these devices, before restarting the
computer. It did not help.
Did you install, without getting these errors?
I would appreciate any advise as to what am I doing wrong?
