I have updated media player to 11 and since than i don't hear any sound for the dvd's i play. I just can simply see the video without any sound. I am not able to make out what might have gone wrong. I did not had any issue in playing same videos with media player 10. Is there anything i can try out to get sound back?? am i missing out anything?? any help for fixing this issue will be appreciated.
I guess your windows media player might be missing ac3filter, in that case you can download it directly form here. Feel free to ask if you face any issue further, best of luck.
I want to now if you are playing some movie dvds or you are playing dvds that you might have burnt?? I remember, in my case i was not able to get sound play back while playing Dvds which were burnt using Nero. Later i had to install AC3 filter to fix the issue. So if you are having dvd burnt in Nero than installing ac3filter will surely help you out but if you are having a different case than i doubt it will.
You can try out the above solution but if that doesn't help than try doing clean installation of media player in following way:
- Start your computer in safemode
- Uninstall windows media player
- Delete regkey-HKLM/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/uninstall/WMP11
- Restart your computer in normal mode
- Reinstall windows media player
