I need some help to fix the regular crashing of Word 2003. I am using this from long time but still there is some issue with the same. It start suddenly there was no problem at all. When I open it halts for few moments and then simply it crashes. There is nothing I can do. I am having many files which are not working.
This are common bugs of Microsoft office. This can be only fixed once you re-install the office pack again from scratch. Or else it will keep on crashing. You can run a repair setup and the issue will be fixed. I hope you have office installation cd. Without that it wont work fine.
Try to run system restore. It looks like some issue with the windows update. Did you install any software recently in your system. If yes then you will have to check out the settings or else the problem will be common. It is not complicated to do the same. It is necessary that you must run a clean setup back from scratch and then only the crashing will be fixed.
I had the identical problem and did everything posted in MS tech forums to no avail. I spent 1/2 hr with MS Engineer and we discovered the problem was caused by one of my printers. By setting the default printer to another printer I had on the network, the problem vanished. I haven't sorted the problem out with my HP printer yet, but now I have a direction to follow and Word is working.
