DVD and CD Drivers Not recognized by Vista--Help please.
I have windows Vista, but it doesn't recognize my DVD writer and CD/DVD
combo drive. I can see them in Device Manager as 'not istalled' with an
exclamation mark. I restored Vista to a previous date and it showed my 2
Drives, but I did some Installation/uninstallation and they went off
again.
I could not find any software driver in the manufacturer web sites
either.
my Drives are as follows:
1. Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-107d
2. HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4480B ATA Device (LG)
I used Firmwares using bootable miniPE2, but it didn't work either.
So, any help would be appreciated.

Thank you very Much Jim, it worked. I really appreciate it. They
described two methodes, but only one of them worked. I did one before,
but it wasn't working. The Stupid redistry method worked. I searched a
lot in google and microsoft, but couldn't find this help.
Thanks again.
Re: DVD and CD Drivers Not recognized by Vista--Help please.
hi there. I am confronting the same problem. I have the windows vista
operating system and i can't find the REG_MULTI_SZLowerFilters and
REG_MULTI_SZUpperFilters. The only relevant types i found was
REG_MULTI_SZ and its title is IconPath. So do you know if it is ok to
delete this one ?

Definitely not the right one. You may not have a value for those
filters -- I don't, yet my DVD is working properly.
